  • The Trap (1966)

The 1966 film The Trap with Rita Tushingham and Oliver Reed has finally been given a proper dvd release. A German company, Pidax Film Klassiker, released a remastered version in May 2016. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01C7G1Q4I/

A favourite of mine, I'd bought previous versions from Germany, Italy, and France. All suffered from washed-out colours and were presented only in letterboxed 4:3 aspect ratio.

The Pidax release is in true anamorphic widescreen, with the 2.35:1 film letterboxed within a 16:9 video frame. Colours are rich, detail is very sharp. German and English audio.

My only complaint is that they did not ask Rita Tushingham, who is still alive, to record an audio commentary.

Thanks for the info - it's a compelling movie. I look forward to buying it.

Thanks for the alert. I have also ordered a copy. I only wish it was available on blu ray.
