  • The Ladykillers

After a restoration The Ladykillers is touring cinemas from 23/10/2020 and a 5 disc 4K UHD boxset is due to be released on 06/11/2020 (there will also be a DVD and blu-ray version).

Here are some behind-the-scenes photos, thanks to the Guardian.

You might be interested in photos I took of Ladykillers locations about 20 years ago, compared with equivalent stills from the film.

My photos are particuarly interesting because they record the area around KX station before the changes that the Channel Tunnel Rail Link at St Pancras brought about, and before the modern semi-circular booking hall on the west side of KX obliterated the Hotel Curve platform of the old line from Farringdon via KX to Finsbury Park.

I wish I'd taken more photos, but it was in the days of film photography when every picture cost money ;-) In particular I should have taken more/any photos during the guided walk that I went on (in aid of the Sir Nigel Gresley preservation fund) of the goods area north of the canal and south of the North London Line, which was all swept away by the CTRL.

Some of the "modern" photos were taken by other people who sent them in after I publicised my little site on a railway-related newsgroup some years ago.

Wonderful news. This film will be released on 4K DVD disc. I recall the deplorable remake in 2004 with Tom Hanks. Tom Hanks is a good actor. American film makers should leave British classic alone.
