  • Are there movies "Last Man on Earth" ACTUALLY the last left alive on the planet?

Seems like every time there's a movie with this basic premise, they inevitably have to put in a "twist" where we find out that there are actually other people still alive. I Am Legend is a good example.

It's always bothered me because I want a movie that fully explores that concept. Like a story where the entire conflict comes from the character coping with being completely alone instead of having that for the first act or 2 and then introducing more people.

    Any suggestions?

yes your' right . maybe mankind finds it too distressing to address that scenario . i remember the twilight zone episodes 'time enough at last' and 'where is everybody ' Spoiler : which turned out to be a military experiment of simulated isolation and that was fairy intolerable .

Also, for a time, in 'The Martian', Matt Damon is the last living being on Mars (after his colleagues leave and head back to Earth.)

Rather similar to 'Robinson Crusoe On Mars' in fact.

There's a bit more emotional coping with it in the latter. He does have a monkey for companionship, though.

It's been a while since I've seen it, but in the Vincent Price version of 'I Am Legend' ('Last Man On Earth') he is genuinely the only Human being left - therefore he is the monster to all the Vampire race (which was the point, anyway).
