He is definitely a 'Rank insider'

Although he was involved in the film industry from the '10s his British film credits span 1948 to 1965.

No - Another clue - he was an evangelist for the Rank organization.

Here he is with Betty Box.

If there was ever a 'good cop, bad cop' team at Pinewood - he was the 'good cop.'

It's Earl St. John, whose Executive Producer credit was usually shown at the end of a film.

And John Davis the bad cop, I suspect!

Yes indeed - I've got a letter from Earl St. John concerning a Paul Soskin project where Earl is explaining how Davis has just pulled out of the deal just before production started. Earl is very apologetic, but Davis' word was final.

Is it a 'horror' or a 'clubland hero'?

I know the actor but can't figure what those instruments on the table are.

It looks like Michael Goodliffe to me so I'll guess "A Night to Remember"?
