• Ancient Monuments 1 & 2 (Public Information Films about British Castles and Abbeys)

These are public information films from the late 60's and early 70's apparently. I remember seeing them on Saturday mornings in the late 70s and/or early 80s... Before Grandstand?
They were made by an entity called Public Announcement Film Unit, but can't find any more information about them apart from the below, which I got from this post:

Aha, I found the old post, it looks like: http://filmdope.com/forums/114956-public-information-film-corfe-castle.html
There seems to be no information about these films or Public Announcement Film Unit on the internet.
I wonder if I might have better luck at a film archive? I live in Berkeley, California, and there's an excellent film archive here. It's a long shot, but I'll go do a search there. I suppose I could also try the BFI next time I'm in London. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated.

They were probably made for the COI (central office of information) a long disbanded government dept... to promote (in this case) walking... Network DVD got hold of the archive a few years ago and released a selection of the well remembered safety films (don't play around electric poles etc) under the DVD title 'Charley Says'

Hello Bosconi, I’m not sure if this is any help, but the Caerphilly Castle film is on the free section of the BFI player, so there may be others on there too. Sadly it doesn’t have any credits so won’t help you track down the makers. It did take me back to my schooldays seeing this old film again though ! I’m not sure if we”re allowed to post links but it”s pretty easy to find

Hello Altemont, you are allowed to post links, as long as they're not to anywhere naughty (porn sites) or to a bad seller of films who is known to take the money and run. But the BFI doesn't fall into either of those categories :)

No credits at the start or end except for what looks like the series title "Ancient Monuments"
No idea who the narrator is

Hello,

I usually purchase films online using http://www.digitalgp.co.uk/ . I can access several genres of movies and videos since the firm collaborates with various websites. I haven’t watched the ones you mentioned though. So I am not too sure if they are available. But it is still worth a try. If I do notice them on one the sites, I will let you know. If you are interested in watching movies of the same genre, you can visit the following link: https://www.theuardia.com/film/2016/...mer-james-mars . You will find a list of interesting films. Otherwise, you can visit screnoline.org or timeout.com. Hope that helps you!
