There was an establishing shot of Tower Bridge at the start of the feature film of Callan (1974) to show that the action is taking place in London

The opening titles of Tiger in the Smoke (1956) also feature the bridge:

The appellation of "A British Film" adopted by Rank at this time seems to have be appropriated from Ealing Studios who used it during/immediately after the Second World War. And of course, Pinewood Studios are nowhere near London, England.

                          The Floating Dutchman (1952)

                          https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0212164/

                          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Floating_Dutchman

The film shows a copyright date of 1953 but both the imdb and Wikipedia state it is 1952.

                          Quoting from the imdb entry:

"In England, two men working on the docks close to London's Tower Bridge find a dead body of an unidentified man floating in the River Thames, they call the local police."

In fact the Tower Bridge appears continuously from 00:00:00 through to 00:01:31.

                          I found the film at:

                          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9-Zw-TfGO1s

"The Floating Dutchman (1953) Dermot Walsh, Mary Germaine 72 hours ONLY!"

Great thread! I work right near Tower Bridge and always look out for it in films especially the old films as it shows how it used to look along the Thames and thereabouts. I often walk down Shad Thames on the pretext of getting some exercise! I was delighted to see Tower Bridge and Shad Thames in a film on Talking Pictures starring John Mills - The Long Memory

Love to see Tower Bridge or Big Ben at the start of movies ; it's like being asked to settle into a comfy armchair. Enjoying this thread!
