(montage made of three stills from a vertical pan - mark 01:01:01-01:01:09)

This is the only view you see of the structure and I was curious to discover it's location. Since the film was produced at Pinewood Studios I assumed that this was an actual local building, and visually unique due to the wide steps, colonnade and atrium.

Fortunately my first port of call was the excellent Avengerland British tv and movie locations web site (http://avengerland.theavengers.tv/). I finally found a match in the "About Britain" section (http://avengerland.theavengers.tv/about.htm) - Osterley Park House (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osterley_Park).

Ah - if they were all this easy...

Still a much used location - Horrible Histories used it the Dick Turpin Song, plus various sketches about Romans, Georgian's, etc.

And it was, as the Wiki pointed out, the site of the famous Home Guard training school set up 'unoffically' during WW2, with instructors from the Spanish Civil War, various left wingers, etc.

Notable among its appearance in films is its "role", both exterior and interior, as the Duke of Shires' stately home in A Study in Terror (1965).

I've been here on one of the Dead Man's Treasure Hunt location tours many years ago. This also featured as a filming location in both The Saint and The Persuaders!

Playing Colebrook Manor in An Alligator Named Daisy (1955). The interior is briefly used too, although Pinewood's Heatherden Hall stands in for the house in some later scenes.
