Two questions. How legal is it?...and why would I want to watch a classic film on YouTube when it's available in much better quality from other sources?

Not at all legal. It’s still under copyright. But how can you keep up with sites like YouTube about copyright? It’s a never ending job.

As for why why anyone would watch it on YouTube when it’s available in much better quality elsewhere. It can introduce people to great films and then they might choose to watch it in a better way
